I am over the whole Democratic Party. For the life of me, I can see no virtue in that political party. Not one.
Even the most conservative Democrat (an oxymoron if ever I heard one) is not worth the trouble of voting for, especially on the national level. Why would you vote for anyone who would allow someone like Nancy Pelosi or Harry Reid to remain in a position of power?
As for Barack Obama, I never imagined the American public could elect another president worse than Jimmy Carter. I stand corrected.
But for Obama, Pelosi, and Reid to carry on with this travesty of a health care bill, as people remain out of work, is either shockingly stupid, or deviously brilliant. Because the benefits of the bill don't come until 2014 (at the earliest), that leads me to believe they are more on the "shockingly stupid" side, since none of them will get any political gains from this legislation. Going on the campaign trail with, "just wait, you're about to get something really nice", doesn't sell well with people who are out of work.
That doesn't even consider the fact they will be increasing taxes immediately to pay for the Health Care Monstrosity That Ate the United States, AND they are doing this in the middle of a recession! This is a display of intelligence which would be the envy of the fur growing in the bottom of my trash can.
So until I have some reason for hope (an election would be nice), I am done criticizing the federal government. I am done blogging about these fools. It is like the old saying about teaching a pig to sing: Don't try it, because it just frustrates you, and irritates the pig.

Too big to succeed?
A year after the Lehman Brothers failure, and almost a year after the initial TARP program which was rolled out to save our financial industry by saving those businesses which were "too big to fail", one question remains: What was done to prevent this from happening again in the future?
If a company is "too big to fail", logic dictates that it is simply too big, and needs to be broken up, similar to what happened to AT&T several decades ago. Our government has not only failed to do this, but has instead encouraged the failing businesses to be bought out by other larger businesses (one example being the Merrill Lynch purchase by Bank of America). Instead of breaking up "too big to fail" businesses, we have even bigger "too big to fail" businesses.
One could look at this as a failure of leadership or economic stupidity, but the truth is a far worse thing: These companies are major sources of campaign funding. If they die, politicians will have to find other sources of campaign funding, which won't be nearly as generous. So the politicians happily handed out money they didn't have to these companies to keep them afloat. And now we are stuck with the bill for their largess.
The corruption in the U.S. government has reached astounding levels, where bribes fly back and forth between Wall Street and Washington, and all of it perfectly legal, because the lawmakers have made it legal.
If you think either the Republicans or Democrats are somehow immune to this, just look at the bailouts, which were approved by BOTH parties, and you will see just how deep the money runs in Washington.
It is time to throw out the bums, and I do not mean just the incumbents. I mean the two-party system. If you think you are wasting your vote by voting for a third party, I will tell you that your vote on any Republican or Democrat is just as wasted, because you are voting to maintain Wall Street's hold on power.

Sympathy for the Democrats
Dear President Obama, Speaker of the House Pelosi, Senator Reid, et al,
I want to thank all of you. I personally have been rather upset with the direction of the United States for many years now. It has not been going downhill nearly fast enough.
While the Republicans were quietly and slowly ruining the country, you are loudly and quickly bringing the country to its' inevitable end. Thanks to your gross stupidity and arrogance, this country is rocketing to disintegration.
In keeping with my support for your direction for the country, I would like to make a few suggestions:
1. Please pass universal health care! And try to be as arrogant about it as possible. Calling the opposition "un-American" was a nice touch, but you really need to do more in this regard.
Most of these people speaking out against health care are just concerned individuals, so you really need to do more to stigmatize and alienate them. Frankly, the partisan divide in this country isn't nearly big enough. If you can work this angle harder, you can really make the divide grow. Then when you pass health care, these people will be spitting mad at you.
By the way, all those years you guys spent calling Republicans "Nazis"? Brilliant! You have so stigmatized the accusation, you can get away with all the fascism you like, and no one can say anything without looking like, well...you.
Also, with universal health care in place, you can give people even more reason to hate you, with long doctor waits for treatment, as well as high costs. If you can promise the moon on health care, charge an obscene premium for it, then make people wait for months to get the health care they need, you will totally rule, because they will need you to fix the system YOU broke! The fact you will have broken it for the second time is just an added piece of delicious irony.
2. More spending! The bailouts were good, but not enough. Sure, you are looking at hyperinflation for the next few years, but if you can pile it on some, think of all the good that could come?
First, you would ruin China's economy. At least you won't have to worry about them for awhile, as all the debt they already financed becomes as worthless as Confederate dollars.
Second, the American economy will be dead! Fortunately, your buddies in the banking industry will still be running, since all the new money will go to them first, and you will need them. If you have to pay $1,000 for a tank of gas, those debit cards will come in handy.
Third, and this is the important part for you, the welfare state will be in full bloom, since few people will have, or be able to get, a job!
3. More taxing! What is taking you so long with the cap and trade tax? If you wait too long, the effects of the increased energy costs will be felt by the consumer during an election year. Then they will just vote you out and replace you with someone who will end the tax.
While you are at it, we need more income taxes! Do you realize there are still people out there spending their own hard-earned money. THIS HAS TO STOP!
Think about it: As long as people can make money from working, what incentive do they have to be slothful? Don't get me wrong, I fully appreciate the way you have used the "greed" angle to get people to support your ideas. Now use it to get their support for higher taxes.
4. Keep the wars going! More death and destruction in Iraq and Afghanistan, and the peaceniks can't complain, because they ALL voted for you! That is why pride is a sin: They hate being considered a hypocrite MORE than they hate war! People dying just so someone doesn't get called a hypocrite. Gotta love it!
Anyway, keep up the good work folks. And when the United States is gone, just know that I have a nice warm spot waiting for you at my place.

Congressional Vacation
Over at the Drudge Report, Dick Morris has an editorial:
My response is: Let them take as much time off as they want, because then they will do less damage. Thomas Paine said it best: "That government is best which governs least."
"House Democrats lost considerable credibility yesterday when their opening session was cancelled so that members could attend the Ohio State-Florida State football game.
This is not a joke.
It is, however, a blunt metaphor for how genuinely out of touch the members of Congress really are. How many other Americans do you suppose were given the same perk? A day off because of an evening football game? And how many school kids would like to have time off to watch their own favorite teams? What kind of message is the House leadership sending?
Is it that they don’t get how bad it looks, or that they don’t care?
Their record has been dismal. Last year, the House and Senate worked an average of about two days a week for their salary of $162,500. Nice work if you can find it."
