Pigskin Pick'em - NFL Week 14 Results & Mike Vick

The best pick this week was made by U.S. District Judge Henry E. Hudson, when he chose to give Mike Vick 23 months in prison, instead of the 12-18 months recommended in Vick's plea agreement.

I know a lot of people want to see Vick out of football forever, but I personally hope Vick can learn from this mistake, get his head on straight, and come back better than ever in a few years. Although if he doesn't play well, I am sure the fans will have him on a "short leash".

Seriously though, in our weekly picks, I win!
EdMcGon - 13
David Stefanini - 12
FunkyPundit - 12
Audio Dave - 12
Robert A. George - 10
Bill Barker - 7
J. Mark English - 6

In the YTD standings, David Stefanini returns to sole possession of the top spot, but with only two games separating him from Robert George and me:

David Stefanini(2) - 118
EdMcGon(3) - 116
Robert A. George(2) - 116
J. Mark English(1) - 98
Bill Barker - 92
FunkyPundit(0.5) - 76
BL(2) - 74
Audio Dave(2.5) - 60
SoloD(1) - 53
Dave O'Leary - 21
Rigel - 17
Snave - 8
Mike - 8
Moose - 2

UPDATE: Originally, I had Bill Barker with the weekly win. WRONG! Barker posted his picks after 1:00 pm on Sunday, so I had to take away all his 1:00 games, leaving him with 7 games. Sorry Bill.

Ed,

I won. I got all 15 right. Now I'm not gonna argue technicalities with you since I can't. No argument, I posted my picks late. But if winning means legitimate picks with no inside knowledge - not "cheating" - then my perfect pick stands.

For what it's worth, I was sick as a dog all weekend into Monday. I slept Sunday morning away and it was only by chance that I woke up a few minutes after 1:00 p.m. on Sunday and remembered I hadn't posted my picks. So... I posted them. *NOT* after checking scores. *NOT* after turning on the TV or radio. No, Ed... I would never cheat.

Your buddy over at the other site inferred that I did. That's because he's a loser. (*SHRUG*)

You on the other hand are just being Ed. I have no complaint with your decision to stick to the rules for "official standings" rankings. That said, you have my word I picked a perfect week fair and square.

Bill: I didn't infer you cheated. I pointed out that you once again broke what Ed ended up calling "The Barker Rule" after you ignored it the last time. YOU make the same mistake, but *I'm* the loser? Typical.

Glad to see you posting here, RAG.

Giving you the benefit of the doubt that you didn't MEAN to imply or infer that there was anything unethical or below board in my late by a few minutes (your blog clock runs fast) pick-'em post I withdraw the insult "loser."

Anyway... let's not clog up Ed's blog with our personal back and forth. Ed - in that spirit I apologize to you for calling RAG a loser on YOUR site.

Bill,
I am NOT accusing you of cheating. The rules are what they are. If we were using a website to pick the games, you wouldn't be able to pick them late.

Ed,

I never accused YOU of inferring (purposefully or not) that I was cheating. Not to go over this again, but the feeling I got from RAG's post was that RAG was...

(*SMILE*)

Anyway, what's done is done. Ed. You certain "know" me well enough by now to know that if I had thought for a moment that YOU even held out the possibility that I would cheat...

Well - suffice it to say that on a personal level I would have been VERY hurt (yeah - I'm not afraid to say it) - but beyond that I would have reacted to you... or anyone else... just as I reacted to RAG when my impression was that he was being petty, weaselly, and worst of all, posting what I considered to be a sideways accusation that I would cheat. Without asking or expecting you to comment, my guess is that if push came to shove you'd agree that there were better ways to handle my late post than the insinuating tone Robert employed. ("Mr. Barker" this, "Mr. Barker" that. Com'on... all he had to say was, "hey, look, I'm not saying Bill would cheat, but rules are rules, for whatever reason the time code shows he posted late." If he had only done that I would never have reacted the way I did.)

Listen - I have no beef with YOU and no beef with your rules. They are what they are and I respect that. I also appreciate the fact that you've now reiterated (though there was no need) YOUR trust in my basic character.

In my mind, I'm counting last week as 15 wins for me. I *DO* *NOT* - repeat - DO NOT - expect YOU to change YOUR counting methods.

For what it's worth I'm also - in my own head - counting the 7 wins (was it 7???) I was fairly - YES, FAIRLY... I understand your reasoning - penalized the first time I was late with my picks.

(*SHRUG*) Ed. You "get" where I'm coming from. I "get" where you're coming from. This is for fun and not money. I expect that even using *my* math I'm gonna end up in fifth place. AND THAT'S OK WITH ME!!! And as is my style, I'll sincerely congratulate all who have bested my record!!!
