Richman gets to the heart of the matter: Changing the way we pay for health care really does nothing to improve on the current system. As Richman says:
Requiring insurance companies to pay for our medical care misses the point. Where do you think insurance companies get their money? From us! What kind of right to health care is it if we end up paying for it anyway? Obama means well, but his plan is a shell game.
Richman goes on to humorously suggest enslaving the doctors, which is really the inevitable end of the progressive ideal.
But it begs a question: How can progressives claim that health care is important enough to be a "right", and at the same time devalue the providers of that "right"?

Following this line of reasoning...
President Obama, most Democrats, and indeed many Republicans apparently believe that whether it's the government directly or "employers" under government mandate and penalty of law providing health insurance, such provision is "in the public interest," in other words for "public purpose."
Right...???
Does ANYONE disagree with my reading of the situation and the mindset?

A former LAW SCHOOL PROFESSOR - right?
Now I'm neither... (*SHRUG*)... but according to my reading of the Constitution of the United States, if Obama and Congress want to pass a law MANDATING that certain businesses of a certain size provide health insurance for all their employees or else pay a fine, doesn't the Constitution kinda call for the government ITSELF to reimburse the private employers - provide JUST COMPENSATION to the private employers - for this mandate...???

Bill, the problem with what you're saying is that a business is a publicly formed entity, unless it is a proprietorship.
